Abstract Submission & Registration

To apply for the School of Atmospheric Measurements in Latin America and the Caribbean: Atmospheric Particles and Reactive Gases (SAMLAC), please follow these instructions:

  • Who can apply for SAMLAC:
    • You must be from the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region and/or have interest in a career in the LAC region.

    • Your research must be related to the LAC region.

    • Researchers, university professors, personnel and technicians in environmental (air quality) government agencies, postdoc, and graduate and advanced undergraduate (≥4th year + doing research) students are welcome to apply,

  • Application requirements:
    • Abstract on your research/interest on the LAC region relevant to SAMLAC topics, e.g., atmospheric particles and reactive gases. The abstract has a 300 word limit. This will be for the poster section on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.

    • CV

    • Letter of Intent

    • The name and email address of someone that will be requested to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf.

  • Travel Support:
    • A very limited amount of funding is available for travel support. Therefore, please only apply for travel support if you ABSOLUTELY need it. 

    • You may apply for travel support as part of the SAMLAC application/abstract submission process.

    • Travel support may include any combination of the following three expenses:

      • Registration

      • Lodging

      • Airfare

    • Please note NO other expenses (meals, visa fees, ground transportation) will be covered by travel support.

    • The travel support application also requires a CV and the name and email address of someone that will be requested to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf.  You will only have to upload your CV and recommender information once if you are applying for travel support in addition to SAMLAC.

  • How to apply:
    • The application and abstract submission is through the IGAC Events Abstract Submission System (EASS)

    • Log into or create an account in IGAC EASS.

    • Complete or check your “Profile” information

    • Under “Upcoming Events”, click on “Submit an Abstract” for SAMLAC

    • Be prepared to upload you CV, letter of intent, and enter the name and address of someone that will submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf.

    • Complete the “Career Details” tab, which includes the application for travel support and SAMLAC.

    • Complete the “Abstract Details” tab.

    • Review the “Preview” tab to make sure everything is correct

    • Click on “Submit Abstract”

    • If you do NOT reach the “Confirmation” tab OR receive an email confirming your abstract submission, you have not completed the application process for SAMLAC.
