Measurements of Reactive Gases (O3, CO, NOx, VOCs)
Reactive gases have a wide array of natural and human sources in the atmosphere. Because of their reactive nature most reactive gases (with the exception of carbon monoxide and some volatile organic compounds) cannot be sampled and stored in sampling containers such as flasks or canisters. Therefore, most measurements are conducted with real-time monitoring approaches that require deployment and operation of instrumentation at the monitoring site. This presentation will review fundamental monitoring approaches, instrumentation, quality control, and calibration approaches for the monitoring of O3, CO, NOx, and VOCs in the background atmosphere.
